Organized in 2002 and chartered in 2004, the Optometric Corneal, Cataract and Refractive Society is optometry’s voice in the field of refractive surgery, co-management and other technologies designed to alter the refractive status of the human eye. Our mission is to bring together optometrists and researchers with an interest in refractive technologies, providing a forum for education and interaction.
OCCRS gives us a forum for discussion and allows us to present ourselves as the key players in supporting patients requiring comanagement. Our members can then act as a resource for our colleagues who are not directly involved in anterior segment comangement, and serve as leaders in the optometric community.
We encourage publication in timely topics that interest our membership, and mentor eager writers. We also encourage speaking opportunities, journal clubs and collaberation with optometric educational institutions.
We support collaborative care with surgeons for the benefit of our patients. Many of our members are working in an collaborative setting running referral centers and supporting networks of ECPs to better serve their community.
To advance the art and science of refractive technology and the knowledge and skills of optometrists participating in refractive technology as well as provide clinical and practice management education to optometrists through various forms of communication and forums.
The Optometric Cornea, Cataract and Refractive Society is a non-profit organization.
